In my opinion, international economic integration in general or joining the ASEAN Economic Community in particular, have brought both opportunities and challenges to the country, to commit to open their markets. For Vietnam, policies to develop the processing industry that Vietnam has the potential and advantages, especially in agro-processing. Focus on the development of supporting industries to avoid heavy dependence on imported raw materials and shocks when raw material prices on the international market increased, while savings are a major source of foreign exchange. Facilitation of business support services (such as finance, credit, science and technology), agro-processing industries; policies to attract investment in this sector. However, in recent years this trend has leveled off. The process of division of labor between Vietnam and other ASEAN countries, it seems, basically, has been shaped after two decades of development. Therefore, the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015, likely will not bring major breakthrough for Vietnam both opportunities and challenges in the field of intra-regional trade. However, in the field of investment could have progressed much stronger. Vietnam, as an economy with cheap labor and lack of funds, will have the opportunity to receive more financial resources than the investment environment and business is improving, the barriers to circulation of capital flows is lowered. The labor-intensive industries such as textiles, assembly ... can get more new resources from ASEAN countries to increase exports to the developed countries. Opportunities for employment of workers in Vietnam, so will many more. But the consumer goods industry to serve the needs of the country will face many challenges over the competition. Increasing investment opportunities (both direct and indirect) in Vietnam also means that the risk of domestic firms in the retail sector will be larger acquisitions to cater for the introduction of consumer goods ASEAN countries in Vietnam. The advantage of the opportunities and overcome the challenges, in part, will depend on the efforts of the business itself. However, for businesses operating in sectors that Vietnam does not have a comparative advantage, then the effort is not always bring the desired results. These businesses need to prepare for the transition to other industries that Vietnam has a comparative advantage. In short, joining AEC, Vietnam has the opportunity to receive more funds to create more jobs for the Cheap labor. But this also means that foreigners will participate in control of economic activities in Vietnam more.
