Sau khi Bộ NN-PTNT thống nhất mở rộng gieo sạ lúa thu đông ở ĐBSCL lên 867.300 ha, tăng 24.160 ha so với các năm trước, các tỉnh An Giang, Đồng Tháp và Thành Phố Cần Thơ đã sẵn sàng xuống giống.

Đồng Tháp là tỉnh có diện tích Sản Xuất lúa hàng năm khá lớn với hệ thống đê bao tốt, thuận lợi để mở rộng gieo sạ lúa Thu Đông nhằm bù lại sản lượng vụ hè thu vừa qua.

Ông Nguyễn Thành Tài, PGĐ Sở NN-PTNT Đồng Tháp cho biết, vụ lúa Thu đông 2016 dự kiến toàn tỉnh sẽ xuống giống khoảng 125.000 ha ở 847 ô bao, năng suất ước đạt 56,3 tạ/ha, sản lượng ước đạt 704.230 tấn. Trong đó, lúa chất lượng cao chiếm 75% diện tích, tỷ lệ sử dụng giống xác nhận chiếm 60% diện tích. Áp dụng biện pháp sạ thưa, sạ hàng 60% diện tích, thu hoạch bằng máy 100% diện tích...

Theo ông Tài, để đảm bảo lúa Thu đông ăn chắc, cần chủ động phòng trừ sâu bệnh, phòng chống mưa, lũ, tiêu úng kịp thời. Thực hiện xuống giống tập trung, đồng loạt, né rầy trên từng vùng, từng khu vực Sản xuất, hạn chế thấp nhất bệnh vàng lùn, lùn xoắn lá...

Lịch xuống giống lúa Thu đông của Đồng Tháp chia 2 đợt: Đợt 1 từ ngày 23/6 - 30/6; đợt 2 từ ngày 23/7 - 31/7. Thời vụ xuống giống vụ Thu Đông trong cơ cấu 3 vụ tại vùng ven biển khoảng 300.000 ha sẽ gặp khó khăn về thời gian bố trí vụ Đông Xuân 2016 - 2017. Còn đối với vùng chịu ảnh hưởng nước trời ở khu vực ven biển, cách biển khoảng 30 - 35 km, xuống giống vào nửa đầu tháng 9, diện tích khoảng 150.000 ha, gồm Long An 25.000 ha, Tiền Giang 36.000 ha, Trà Vinh 40.000 ha, Bạc Liêu 26.000 ha, Sóc Trăng 10.000 ha, Cà Mau 12.000 ha phải sử dụng giống ngắn ngày cho cả 2 vụ Thu Đông 2016 và Đông Xuân 2016 - 2017.

Nhìn chung các tỉnh ĐBSCL đều ủng hộ mở rộng diện tích lúa Thu Đông 2016 để bù lại năng suất vụ Hè Thu. Đây còn là vụ cho năng suất cao, giá bán tốt hơn so với vụ Hè Thu và cho gạo ngon. Tuy nhiên Sản Xuất vụ Thu Đông vẫn tiếp tục đối phó với những khó khăn, không chỉ hạn, mặn mà còn đối mặt với lũ, bão, sâu bệnh…
