Trả lời phỏng vấn của BBC Tiếng Việt hôm 8/9, nhà báo Nguyễn Trung Dân, người từng công tác tại báo Thanh Niên, nơi ông Hùng bị mất chức, cho biết:

“Tôi thấy việc xử lý ông Hùng như vậy là không đúng pháp luật và vô lý. Việc ông Hùng viết status trên Facebook là chuyện cá nhân chứ không liên quan đến chuyện ông ấy làm nghề. Tôi không hiểu tại sao Bộ Truyền thông và báo Thanh Niên có thể xử lý ông Hùng lạ lùng và không coi pháp luật ra gì, dù báo chí luôn kêu gọi thượng tôn pháp luật”.
