Dữ liệu không gian: Dữ liệu không gian bao gồm các thông tin không gian và được thể hiện trên hệ thống bản đồ như: bản đồ địa hình; Bản đồ hiện trạng sử dụng đất; bản đồ quy hoạch kế hoạch sử dụng đất; bản đồ địa chính... Thông tin đầu vào của dữ liệu không gian được thu thập từ các các nguồn khác nhau như: bản ñồ trên giấy đang còn giá trị sử dụng; Số liệu đo đạc bằng các thiết bị đo đạc mặt đất; Ảnh hàng không, ảnh viễn thám. Mô hình dữ liệu của dữ liệu không gian trong hệ thống thông tin địa lý, cũng như hệ thống thông tin đất đai các đối tượng đó được lưu trữ và tồn tại hai mô hình dữ liệu: mô hình Vector và mô hình Raster.
