Vinamilk cho rằng, từ giữa năm 2012, giá nguyên liệu sữa thế giới liên tục tăng. Các nhà sản xuất và kinh doanh sữa trong và ngoài nước đã phải điều chỉnh giá bán sản phẩm nhưng riêng Vinamilk do có kế hoạch dự trữ nguyên liệu tốt nên đã không tăng giá bán suốt cả năm kể cả những mặt hàng không tham gia chương trình bình ổn để chia sẻ một phần khó khăn với người tiêu dùng cả nước.
Sau một năm cố gắng duy trì giá bán ổn định cho người tiêu dùng, từ ngày 17/02/2013 Vinamilk buộc phải điều chỉnh giá bán một số nhóm sản phẩm khoảng 7% để bù đắp một phần chi phí nguyên liệu đầu vào nhập khẩu đã tăng hơn 20% từ giữa năm 2012 - là yếu tố gây áp lực lên chi phí sản xuất của Vinamilk.
Vinamilk chưa điều chỉnh và vẫn thực hiện đúng theo cam kết của chương trình bình ổn giá cho tới 01/04/2013.
