Tôi hy vọng rằng nghiên cứu này sẽ cung cấp quan điểm tổng thể về tục ngữ
nhằm giúp người học hiểu chính xác ý nghĩa cũng như cú pháp của các câu tục ngữ.
2. Mục tiêu, đối tượng và phương pháp nghiên cứu
2.1 Tổng quan
2.1.1 Các nghiên cứu trước đây
Ở Việt Nam cũng như trên thế giới đã có rất nhiều bài nghiên cứu phân tích diễn
ngôn của tục ngữ như “Proverbs and their lessons” - Richard Chenevix Trench (1807-
1886), “Proverbs of A Culture” - Lovill, Julie (1987), “An investigation into stylistic
devices in English and Vietnamese Proverbs” (2008) - Hoàng Kim Anh, “Kể chuyện
thành ngữ tục ngữ” (2002) – Hoàng Văn Hạnh.
Các bài nghiên cứu đã đi sâu phân tích nguồn gốc, đặc điểm chung về cấu trúc
ngữ pháp, ý nghĩa của các câu tục ngữ, giúp người học có một kiến thức tổng quát về
thành phần cấu tạo, ngữ nghĩa của tục ngữ, phân biệt được tục ngữ với các đơn vị câu
khác và hiểu thêm vể các nền văn hóa thông qua tục ngữ, từ đó nâng cao khả năng sử
dụng ngôn ngữ trong giao tiếp tiếng Anh.
2.1.2 Cơ sở lý luận
Theo Chris Fox and Rosalind Combley (2009), “Love” – “Yêu” là trạng thái tình
cảm của chủ thể này đối với một chủ thể khác ở mức cao hơn sự thích thú và được nảy
sinh từ sự hấp dẫn về giới. Theo Từ điển tiếng Việt (2010), “Yêu” có nghĩa là có tình
cảm thắm thiết dành riêng cho một người khác giới nào đó, muốn chung sống và cùng
nhau gắn bó cuộc đời.
Mieder (1984:5) định nghĩa Tục ngữ là một câu ngắn gọn, súc tích dễ nhớ, phổ
biến trong dân gian, chứa chân lý, đạo đức, quan điểm truyền thống dưới các hình ảnh
ẩn dụ, hoán dụ, và được lưu truyền qua nhiều thế hệ. Trong tiếng Việt, Vũ Ngọc Phan
(1978) định nghĩa Tục ngữ là một câu tự nó diễn đạt trọn vẹn một ý, một nhận xét, kinh
nghiệm, luân lý, có khi là sự phê phán.
Tục ngữ về “yêu” là những tục ngữ đáp ứng định nghĩa về tục ngữ và biểu thị
nghĩa về tình yêu nam nữ.
