Đề tài đã nêu lên một cách tổng quát về các khái niện cũng như những ảnh hưởng của Chất thải rắn sinh hoạt đối với môi trường con người. Cho thấy hiện trạng quản lý, xử lý Chất thải rắn sinh hoạt ở Việt Nam và một số nước trên thế giới.
Đề tài đã đề nêu lên hiện trạng phát sinh Chất thải rắn sinh hoạt của Huyện Hàm Thuận Bắc về thành phần, khối lượng và nguồn gốc phát sinh Chất thải rắn sinh hoạt. Công tác quản lý Chất thải rắn sinh hoạt của Huyện Hàm Thuận Bắc được đề cặp và làm rõ về tỷ lệ thu gom, tình hình thu gom, các tuyến thu gom chính và công tác thu phí.
Áp dụng các phương pháp kiến thức đã học và các tài liệu tham khảo để tính toán và vạch các tuyến thu gom Chất thải rắn sinh hoạt đề xuất cho Huyện Hàm Thuận Bắc. tính toán phân tích hệ thống thu gom tại nguồn và hệ thống thu gom thứ cấp, khảo xát địa bàn và chọn các địa điểm để xây dựng các điểm hẹn trong quá trình thu gom thứ cấp. Qua đó đã đề xuất vạch tuyến thu gom theo 6 tuyến cho khu vực nông thôn và 2 tuyến cho khu vực thành thị. Tính toán chi tiết thời gian cần để thu gom của mỗi tuyến cũng như khối lượng Chất thải rắn được thu gom của mỗi tuyến.
