Để nghiên cứu về nhu cầu sử dụng gạo nhập khẩu chúng tôi đã tiến hành khảo sát trên 150 người trong khu vực quận tphcm và hầu hết tất cả đều là phụ nữ thường là tuổi từ 30 đến 50 . Trong đó, số người tuổi từ 30-40 chiếm 48,7%, 40-50 chiếm 32,1%, 25-30 chiếm 16,4%, 20-25 chiếm 2,8% và chủ yếu là nội trợ chiếm 82,5% kế đến là nhân viên văn phòng (10,3%) và các nghề khác (7,2%). Đa số người tiêu dùng thường nằm trong độ tuổi từ 30-50 và họ là nội trợ chính trong gia đình bởi họ có gia đình ổn định, thu nhập cao va quan tâm nhiều đến sức khỏe, nên họ thương chọn gạo có nguồn gốc thương hiệu rõ ràng, chất lượng tốt không có thuốc trừ sâu… bảo đảm an toàn cho sức khỏe của bản thân và gia đình. Bên cạnh đó, thu nhập cũng ảnh hưởng đến nhu cầu sử dụng gạo nhập khẩu. đối với người việt nam, gạo là nguồn lương thực chính cung cấp nhiều giá trị dinh dưỡng trong các bữa ăn hàng ngày. Dù giá bán gạo nhập khẩu khá cao gấp 3-5 lần gạo nội địa nhưng đối với những người có thu nhập cao giá cả không là vấn đề.
