Nhà quản lý là những người làm việc trong tổ chức, điều khiển công việc của người khác và chịu trách nhiệm trước kết quả hoạt động của họ. Nhà quản lý là người lập kế hoạch, tổ chức, lãnh đạo và kiểm soát con người, tài chính, vật chất và thông tin một cách có hiệu quả để đạt được mục tiêu.

Các kỹ năng của nhà quản lý:
• Kỹ năng kỹ thuật: là những khả năng cần thiết để thực hiện một công việc cụ thể; nói cách khác, là trình độ chuyên môn nghiệp vụ của nhà quản lý.
• Kỹ năng nhân sự: là khả năng cùng làm việc, động viên, điều khiển con người và tập thể trong xí nghiệp, dù đó là thuộc cấp, đồng nghiệp ngang hàng, hay cấp trên.
• Kỹ năng tư duy: là khả năng hiểu rõ mức độ phức tạp của môi trường, và biết cách giảm thiểu sự phức tạp đó xuống một mức độ có thể đối phó được.
