Nên tránh dùng pentoxifylin trong xuất huyết não, xuất huyết võng mạc nặng, loạn nhịp tim nặng và nhồi máu cơ tim cấp. Nên dùng thuốc thận trọng ở người bệnh cơ tim thiếu máu cục bộ hoặc hạ huyết áp.
