Nằm trong chuỗi các hoạt động chào mừng ngày Khoa học và Công nghệ Việt Nam (18/5/2016), sáng ngày 18/5, tại Hà Nội, Ủy ban Dân tộc đã tổ chức chương trình toạ đàm khoa học với chủ đề: "Khoa học và Công nghệ - động lực phát triển nhanh, bền vững vùng dân tộc thiểu số" và trao tặng Kỷ niệm chương “Vì sự nghiệp phát triển các dân tộc” cho các nhà khoa học. Đồng chí Đỗ Văn Chiến, Ủy viên Ban chấp hành Trung Ương Đảng, Bộ trưởng Ủy ban Dân tộc và đồng chí Phan Văn Hùng, Thứ trưởng, Ủy ban Dân tộc, Chủ tịch Hội đồng Khoa học Ủy ban Dân tộc đồng chủ trì buổi toạ đàm.
