Xuất phát từ đối tượng của quá trình dạy học là học sinh tiểu học thuộc vùng khó, việc học tiếng Anh rất hoàn toàn mới lạ và ý thức học tập của các em chưa cao, ảnh hưởng đến chất lượng dạy và học.Trong quá trình giảng dạy, tôi nhận thấy rằng các em còn gặp nhiều khó khăn trong việc phát âm. Phát âm đóng vai trò rất quan trọng trong việc học ngoại ngữ nói chung và tiếng Anh nói riêng. Phát âm là nền tảng cho hai kĩ năng nói và nghe của người học. Phát âm tốt thì người học sẽ tự tin hơn khi nói và nghe tốt hơn. Phát âm được coi là việc quan trọng đầu tiên, phát âm được và nói được là cơ sở giao tiếp. Nếu quen phát âm sai, hoặc không nhớ cách phát âm, đặc biệt với những từ khó phát âm hay từ có nhiều âm tiết. Điều này đã làm nhiều em thiếu tự tin lúc nói dẫn đến nói tiếng Anh kém lưu loát và nghe kém hơn.
