Qua một vài so sánh giữa hai nền giáo dục trên đây (Phần Lan và Việt Nam), tôi muốn nói rằng nền giáo dục của Việt Nam chúng ta muốn thoát khỏi những bế tắc hiện nay thì trước tiên phải biết nhìn ra thế giới, nhìn vào nền giáo dục của các nước phát triển để tự thấy được mặt hạn chế, lạc hậu trong nền giáo dục của mình để mà khắc phục. Mà cái cần phải loại bỏ đầu tiên đó là bệnh hình thức, bệnh thành tích trong việc dạy và học. Vì căn bệnh thành tích đã khiến cho cả giáo viên lẫn học sinh chỉ quan tâm đến thi cử, điểm số, thi đua, chỉ tiêu v.v… và khiến cho học sinh phải học suốt cả ngày, phải học thêm học bớt. Muốn loại bỏ bệnh thành tích thì trước tiên chúng ta đừng quá đặt nặng chuyện thi cử, điểm số, đừng đặt ra chỉ tiêu… vì những cái này sẽ khiến cho phụ huynh, học sinh và giáo viên ngộ nhận rằng đi học là để thi, để lấy điểm chứ không phải học để có kiến thức, để làm việc, để làm người! Chừng nào mà chúng ta còn duy trì cách học nhồi nhét, học sinh không có thời gian để vui chơi, để tự học, tự nghiên cứu, biết coi trọng kiến thức thực sự và phụ huynh học sinh chưa bỏ được tâm lý háo danh thì chừng đó nền giáo dục của chúng ta chưa thể thoát khỏi vòng luẩn quẩn.

Phải chăng cái tâm lý háo danh và quan niệm học để làm quan đã ăn sâu vào suy nghĩ của mọi người dân nước ta từ bao đời nay? Chính quan niệm sai lầm này đã góp phần gia tăng tình trạng thất nghiệp theo kiểu “thừa thầy thiếu thợ” và sự bất hợp lý trong việc giáo dục và đào tạo hiện nay. Thế nhưng, tâm lý chung của tất cả các bậc phụ huynh là đều muốn con em của mình vào học đại học để sau này ra trường “ngồi bàn giấy” chứ không muốn chúng thi vào trường nghề để sau này trở thành một người thợ lành nghề. Chỉ có ai đã từng ở vào hoàn cảnh thất nghiệp thì mới có thể hiểu hết được sự vất vả, long đong và hụt hẫng của những sinh viên khi ra trường không xin được việc hoặc phải làm những công việc hoàn toàn trái ngược với chuyên ngành mà mình được đào tạo ở đại học! Vì vậy, chúng ta cũng nên biết “giật mình” bừng tỉnh để thấy được những bất cập trong giáo dục và đào tạo ở nước ta hiện nay.
