Được UNESCO 2 lần công nhận là di sản thiên nhiên thế giới và là 1 trong 7 Kỳ quan thế giới mới. Vịnh Hạ Long nằm ở phía tây của vịnh bắc bộ thuộc vùng đông bắc của Việt Nam, bao gồm vùng biển của thành phố Hạ Long, thị xã Cẩm Phả và một phần của huyện đảo Vân Đồn, tiếp giáp với đảo Cát Bà ở phía Tây Nam.
