Theo Nguyễn Thống và cộng sự (2000). Kiểm định sự phù hợp của mô hình là việc xem xét các biến độc lập có trong mô hình đã phù hợp chưa. Để thực hiện kiểm định sự phù hợp của mô hình, ta dùng kiểm định Fisher và các bước như sau:
- Bước 1: Đặt giả thiết
H0 : β1 = β1 = … = βk = 0: Mô hình hồi quy không phù hợp.
H1 : Tồn tại ít nhất một βj ≠ 0: Mô hình hồi quy phù hợp.
- Bước 2: Tính giá trị của trị thống kê FStat cho mô hình, theo công thức sau:
