Phát biểu tại đại hội thành lập Hiệp hội Các trường ĐH, CĐ Việt Nam ngày 20-12, Phó thủ tướng Vũ Đức Đam đưa ra so sánh số người trong độ tuổi đi học ĐH của nước ta còn thấp so với khu vực và thế giới, thậm chí “thấp so với chính kế hoạch của chúng ta”.

Tại đại hội, sau khi Bộ trưởng Bộ GD-ĐT Phạm Vũ Luận bày tỏ Bộ GD-ĐT sẽ chủ động phối hợp và sẵn sàng lắng nghe ý kiến của hiệp hội nói chung và các thành viên hiệp hội nói riêng, Phó thủ tướng Vũ Đức Đam đã “đặt hàng” nhiệm vụ cao hơn cho hiệp hội với kỳ vọng hiệp hội không chỉ phản biện chính sách mà còn xây dựng chính sách, đề xuất các văn bản cần thiết tạo điều kiện cho giáo dục ĐH thật sự phát triển.
