Để thực hiện nhiệm vụ năm học mới 2016-2017 và nâng cao chất lượng giáo dục của thủ đô, Chủ tịch Nguyễn Đức Chung đề xuất lên Chính phủ, Bộ GD&ĐT 9 giải pháp quan trọng để thúc đẩy ngành giáo dục thủ đô.

Theo đó, Thành phố Hà Nội đề xuất quy hoạch mạng lưới trường học trên địa bàn; Có chương trình chuẩn để hàng năm đào tạo nâng cao trình độ giáo viên và tiêu chuẩn hóa trình độ giáo viên các cấp; Tăng cường giáo dục CNTT trong dạy học, nên đưa chương trình CNTT vào dạy từ bậc Tiểu học; Đẩy mạnh học Tiếng Anh; Bộ GD&ĐT cần có chương trình định hướng nghề nghiệp cho học sinh lớp 9 chuẩn bị vào lớp 10; Cơ chế tự chủ tài chính cho các trường đại học để trên cơ sở đó nhà trường có thể thúc đẩy phát triển giáo dục; Đẩy mạnh hợp tác quốc tế trong giáo dục đào tạo; Tiếp tục đào tạo nguồn nhân lực chất lượng cao và những ngành mũi nhọn phục vụ cho việc phát triển kinh tế-xã hội; Tăng cường đầu tư cơ sở vật chất trong trường học, trong đó ưu tiên nâng cấp, sửa chữa, xây mới các nhà vệ sinh ở trường học.
