Roll Royces sẽ không tham gia Triển lãm auto quốc tế VN 2016, quyết định này được đưa ra vào phút chót để cắt giảm chi phí, khi thời gian tới, kinh doanh của hãng sẽ gặp nhiều khó khăn do thuế tiêu thụ đặc biệt với xe động cơ lớn tăng mạnh (tới 150% đối với những mẫu xe dung tích trên 6.0 lít), như vậy giá bán các dòng xe siêu sang Rolls-Royce sẽ tăng rất cao, ảnh hưởng lớn đến việc tiêu thụ sản phẩm. Dự thảo về kiểm tra chất lượng xe cơ giới nhập khẩu của Bộ Giao thông vận tải vẫn chưa ngã ngũ khiến doanh nghiệp bị động, khó khăn trong hoạch định chính sách kinh doanh.
Ngoài ra, 1 số thành viên của Hiệp hội các nhà sản xuất ô tô Việt Nam (VAMA) đã lựa chọn Triển lãm ô tô quốc tế (do VIVA tổ chức tại TP HCM) để tham dự, mà không phải là Triển lãm ô tô Việt Nam ( do VAMA tổ chức tại Hà Nội). Cả VAMA và VIVA đều đã có kế hoạch cho hoạt động triển lãm vào năm 2017. Tuy thời gian có khác nhau ( VAMA tổ chức vào tháng 8, VIVA tổ chức vào tháng 10), nhưng cả 2 cuộc triển lãm này đều sẽ được diễn ra tại TP.HCM. Lý do hiện tại Hà Nội không có địa điểm nào đáp ứng được quy mô trưng bày của các thương hiệu ô tô đang ngày một nhiều tại Việt Nam.
