Nhằm mục đích kết nối Việt Nam với khu vực, tạo bối cảnh để công chúng khi tham quan BTDTHVN có cơ hội nhận biết tính đồng nhất trong đa dạng văn hóa giữa văn hóa của các dân tộc Việt Nam với văn hóa các dân tộc Đông Nam Á; nhận biết được giữa các sắc màu văn hóa hết sức đa dạng, toàn bộ khu vực Đông Nam Á vẫn còn đó các nền tầng văn hóa để tạo bản sắc chung cho mục đích xây dựng một cộng đồng Đông Nam Á như một thực thể khu vực.
