Ở nước ta, chất thải công nghiệp đang gây ô nhiễm không khí, đất và nguồn nước trên nhiều khu vực rộng lớn, ảnh hưởng trực tiếp đến đời sống và sức khỏe của con người. Đặc biệt môi trường khí vẫn chưa được nhiều sự quan tâm. Trong đó, công nghiệp hóa chất, ngành khai thác và chế biến than, ngành nhiệt điện, ngành sản xuất thép...đây là những ngành mà chất thải đều rất độc hại, gây nguy hiểm cho môi trường tự nhiên và con người không chỉ trong hiện tại mà còn ảnh hưởng đến lâu dài.Ở việt nam điều này càng nguy hại khi các công ty nhà máy chưa có hệ thống xử lí chất khí trước khi thải ra môi trường
