Nếu từ đứng trước kết thúc bằng một nguyên âm gần giống âm /ʊ/ hoặc /u:/ và từ đứng liền sau bắt đầu bằng bất kỳ nguyên âm nào thì chúng ta phát âm bổ sung âm /w/ để nối hai nguyên âm đó với nhau.
Nếu từ đứng trước kết thúc bằng một nguyên âm gần giống âm /ɪ/ hoặc /i:/ và từ đứng liền sau bắt đầu bằng bất kỳ nguyên âm nào thì chúng ta phát âm bổ sung âm /j/ để nối hai nguyên âm đó với nhau.
