Xác định và đánh giá các nhân tố ảnh hưởng đến hiệu quả hoạt động kinh doanh của doanh nghiệp là chủ đề rất quan trọng, thu hút được sự quan tâm của các nhà quản trị doanh nghiệp cũng như các nhà nghiên cứu khoa học. Trong những thập niên vừa qua ở các nước phát triển đã có nhiều cuộc nghiên cứu về vấn đề này. Ở Việt Nam, kể từ khi đổi mới và nhất là từ khi hội nhập kinh tế quốc tế đến nay, cũng đã có một số công trình nghiên cứu về lĩnh vực hoạt động kinh doanh của các doanh nghiệp. Tuy nhiên vấn đề nghiên cứu này chưa có được nhiều.
Trong nghiên cứu này, mục tiêu của tác giả là xem xét và tìm ra mối quan hệ giữa các nhân tố ảnh hưởng đến hiệu quả hoạt động kinh doanh của các doanh nghiệp được niêm yết trên Sàn giao dịch chứng khoán TP.Hồ Chí Minh. Nghiên cứu này sẽ trả lời các câu hỏi “Những nhân tố ảnh hưởng? Mức độ ảnh hưởng đến đâu? Kết quả nghiên cứu có giống với một số kết quả nghiên cứu trên thế giới hay không?”.
Tổng hợp các lý luận và các chỉ số đánh giá về hiệu quả hoạt động kinh doanh, trên cơ sở lý luận đó tác giả xây dựng mô hình, các giả thuyết nghiên cứu, các nhân tố ảnh hưởng đến hiệu quả hoạt động kinh doanh và một số nghiên cứu trước có liên quan ở trong nước và trên thế giới. Nghiên cứu thu thập số liệu từ báo cáo tài chính đã được kiểm toán của 100 trong thời gian từ 2011 – 2013, những doanh nghiệp này đã được niêm yết trên Sàn giao dịch chứng khoán TP.Hồ Chí Minh. Tác giả sử dụng phần mềm Excel và SPSS 20.0 để xử lý số liệu.
Mô hình nghiên cứu được xây dựng bởi 9 nhân tố ảnh hưởng, gồm: Tốc độ tăng trưởng, Đầu tư tài sản cố định, Cơ cấu vốn, Quy mô doanh nghiệp, Thời gian hoạt động, Quản trị nợ phải thu, Rủi ro kinh doanh, Tỷ lệ sở hữu nhà nước. Ngành nghề kinh doanh. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy, có 5 nhân tố có ảnh hưởng đến hiệu quả hoạt động kinh doanh (ROA): Đầu tư tài sản cố định, Cơ cấu vốn, Quy mô doanh nghiệp, Rủi ro kinh doanh, Ngành nghề kinh doanh. Có 2 biến có tác động rất mạnh đến hiệu quả hoạt động kinh doanh là quy mô doanh nghiệp tác động theo chiều âm (-) và Rủi ro kinh doanh tác động theo chiều dương (+).
Kết quả nghiên cứu này cũng phù hợp với một số nghiên cứu có liên quan trên thế giới, ở Việt Nam và phù hợp với đặc điểm hoạt động kinh doanh của các doanh nghiệp. Từ kết quả nghiên cứu này, tác giả đã đề xuất một số giải pháp có ảnh hưởng trực tiếp đến hiệu quả hoạt động kinh doanh của các doanh nghiệp niêm yết trên Sàn giao dịch chứng khoán TP.Hồ Chí Minh.
