A SIP Proxy Server get a SIP Request from a User Agent or Proxy and act on behalf of the User Agent for Forwarding or Responding to a Request. A Proxy is not a B2BUA because it only allows to edit the Request and accepts the Response to external rules established in RFC 3261. These rules are maintained over the gap End-To-End SIP signal while it still allows the proxy server performs the services and functions to the User Agent.A Proxy Server must have access to the database or the location of the service in order to help it in the process of handling the Request. SIP Protocol does not define the interface between the proxy and the service location. The proxy can use several types of database in the course of processing the Request. A database can contain SIP Registration, current information, and other types of out-of-town information about where the User is assigned.A Proxy Server with a Gateway or User Agent in the following three points: A Proxy Server does not put out the Request, it only satisfies the Request from a User Agent (A CANCEL Request is an exception in this rule). A Proxy Server is not capable of Media. A Proxy Server is not parsing the messages, which are only based on the to Header Field.
