Để giúp trẻ hiểu rằng không nên lãng phí đồ ăn, cô giáo không giảng “một hạt thóc vàng chín hạt mồ hôi, nên các em không được lãng phí…”. Các bé được trực tiếp trồng lúa hoặc các loại rau củ trong vườn cây hoặc bồn hoa của trường. Các bé sẽ tự gieo hạt, chăm sóc, cho tới thu hoạch, tất nhiên là vẫn dưới có giáo viên hướng dẫn nhưng chủ yếu là các bé tự làm.
