Nhưng nếu tự học, muốn tiến bộ thực sự, người học phải tỉnh táo, trung thực, đem so sánh những gì mình đã có được với yêu cầu của chương trình. Do đó việc đánh giá sẽ sát với tình hình thực tế hơn. Qua đây, ta dễ dàng nhìn ra được thế mạnh, điểm yếu của mình và tìm cách khắc phục.
