Đầu tháng 1-2016 xuất khẩu gạo của Việt Nam đạt 202.000 tấn, tăng 108% so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái.

Lý giải nguyên nhân khiến xuất khẩu gạo Việt Nam tăng đột biến, ông Nguyễn Thanh Phong, Giám đốc doanh nghiệp Vạn Lợi (Tiền Giang), cho biết ngoài các hợp đồng thương mại mà doanh nghiệp trong nước đã ký bán, thì việc đẩy mạnh xuất khẩu hai hợp đồng mà chúng ta ký bán cho Philippines và Indonesia hồi năm ngoái cũng là nguyên nhân khiến khối lượng tăng mạnh.

Với diễn biến xuất khẩu như trên, trong tuần đầu tháng 1-2016, Việt Nam là quốc gia có khối lượng gạo xuất khẩu lớn thứ hai sau Thái Lan.

Năm 2016, Hiệp hội Lương thực Việt Nam (VFA) đặt mục tiêu xuất khẩu 6,5 triệu tấn gạo.
