Book lovers believethat reading habit is beneficial for their imagination as well as languageskills while TV watchers argue that science films, cartoon will further theirlanguage ability. To my mind, I agree that reading and watching areadvantageous alike due to these following points. On the one hand, novels and short stories are good sources to lift readers ' imagination andenrich vocabularies as well. Firstly, the words are ubiquitous in thousands of pages that encourage readersto visualize what they read in their head naturally. Forinstance, when a child turns the pages on a little girl ' beauty, he will envision her appearance such as her face, eyes, lips, complexion. While, due to presence of media effects including sounds, pictures, flash her shape is vivid and clearin films. Therefore, the watchers do not need to draw out whatthey see in their mind as readers. Secondly, the words thoundsands of cover pages and as such reading is a significant activity for the enhancement of vocabularies and grammatical structures. An example is that books on regular diseases will provide readers with a wide variety of health terminologies. Accordingly, not only do you understand specialised knowledge but also enrichnew words. On the other hand, is much more convenient for language learners. The reason is that TVhas sounds and images which have been used as useful visual aids to study foreign languages. For instance, If you are a fan of English talk shows, you will not only know more slangs, jargons but also upgrade listening skill. Moreover, thanks to these talk shows, you can imitate utterance of guests and hosts to improve yourpronunciation in particular and speaking level in general. In conclusion, as Imentioned above, both reading and watching have their own advantages in term ofimagination development and language enhancement. Therefore, each of us shouldbalance these two habits for long-term benefits.
