Hiện nay Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh có 641 khách sạn với 17.646 phòng.[93] Phục vụ những khách cao cấp, thành phố có 11 khách sạn 5 sao, gồm: Caravelle, Sheraton, Moevenpick (Omni cũ), New World, Equatorial, Legend, Renaissance Riverside, Windsor Plaza, Sofitel Plaza, Park Hyatt, Majestic với tổng cộng 3.592 phòng.[94] Hầu hết các khách sạn này đều do những tập đoàn quốc tế như Accor, Furama, Mariot hay Sheraton quản lý và tập trung nhiều nhất tại Quận 1. Bên cạnh đó thành phố còn 8 khách sạn 4 sao với 1.281 phòng, 20 khách sạn 3 sao với 1.621 phòng. Do sự phát triển của du lịch, số phòng cao cấp tại thành phố hiện đang thiếu trầm trọng. Mặc dù nhiều nhà đầu tư có ý định xây dựng tiếp các khách sạn sạng trọng tại Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh nhưng họ lại gặp khó khăn trong việc tìm địa điểm. Theo dự kiến, đến năm 2020, thành phố sẽ có thêm 10 nghìn phòng 4 hoặc 5 sao.[94]
