Năm 1996, xưởng hàn chính thức đi vào hoạt động cùng với Xưởng Sơn, Lắp Ráp và Kiểm tra. Tại xưởng Hàn, công việc được thực hiện theo trình tự sau:
• Hàn sàn xe trước, sau (Under rear process)
• Hàn thành xe 2 bên (Side member process)
• Hàn thân xe ( Main body process)
• Lắp cửa xe (Fitting process)
• Hiệu chỉnh xe lần cuối (Touch up process)
Phương pháp hàn chủ yếu là hàn điểm. Do có hàng trăm điểm hàn khác nhau để tạo nên 1 thân xe hoàn chỉnh, đội ngũ nhân viên của nhà máy TMV đã tiến hành các cải tiến, trong đó đặc biệt kể tới:
• Thiết lập hệ thống dưỡng bắn điểm hàn (Gun Guide ): giúp tạo độ chính xác về mặt số lượng điểm cần hàn và vị trí điểm hàn.
• Hệ thống kiểm soát bong tách điểm hàn theo Kamishibai: Số lượng điểm hàn rất nhiều mà ko thể kiểm tra 100% số điểm hàn này trên 1 xe. Vì vậy, số lượng điểm hàn được chia tuần tự cho 5 xe liên tiếp.
• Viên nhớ trên súng Hhn: Khi sử dụng súng hàn, người công nhân phải đặt 2 mỏ súng vuông góc 90 độ thì điểm hàn mới đạt chuẩn
• Hệ thống đảm bảo độ chính xác của độ gá hàn (Jig accuracy)
