Kết quả của những nghiên cứu đã chỉ ra rằng BĐKH sẽ tác động nghiêm trọng tới sản xuất, đời sống và môi trường trên phạm vi toàn cầu, đặc biệt là lĩnh vực nông nghiệp sẽ dễ bị tổn thương nhất..Biến đổi khí hậu làm nhiệt độ tăng, lượng mưa thay đổi, các sông băng tan chảy, mực nước biển tăng cao và thời tiết khắc nghiệt đã và đang tác động đến nhiều lĩnh vực kinh tế có liên quan đến việc sử dụng tài nguyên nước, đặc biệt là lĩnh vực nông nghiệp và sản xuất lương thực. Do đó cần có nghiên cứu đánh giá mức độ ảnh hưởng của BĐKH đến cân bằng nước của hệ thống thủy lợi.
Hồ chứa Đak Uy là công trình thủy lợi lớn nhất của tỉnh Kon Tum có nhiệm vụ quan trọng là tưới cho 2516,4 ha đất canh tác nông nghiệp cho huyện ĐaK Hà, và cung cấp nước sinh hoạt cho 65000 người.
