Phát biểu tại buổi lễ, ông Nguyễn Văn Phước, Phó giám đốc Sở TN-MT TP.HCM nhấn mạnh vai trò của mỗi cá nhân trong các hoạt động chung của cộng đồng sẽ tác động lên toàn cầu, để từ đó nâng cao nhận thức của cá nhân, cộng đồng về trách nhiệm đối với môi trường. Ông nói: “Để góp phần thành công trong công tác bảo vệ môi trường, chúng ta không chỉ cần những người quản lý giỏi mà còn rất cần đến sự đồng thuận và chấp hành của mọi công dân”. Ông kêu gọi lãnh đạo các doanh nghiệp quan tâm hơn nữa việc chấp hành các quy định về bảo vệ môi trường và quán triệt đến từng nhân viên. Lãnh đạo Sở TN-MT thành phố cũng mong mọi người dân phát huy hơn nữa tinh thần tự giác tự nguyện trong việc giữ gìn vệ sinh môi trường, không chỉ trong khuôn viên gia đình mà còn tại tất cả các nơi công cộng.
