Nhìn một cách tổng thể chương trình Tiếng Anh Trung học cơ sở chúng ta thấy rằng khối lượng kiến thức ngôn ngữ rất “nặng”, đặc biệt là ở kỹ năng Đọc hiểu sach Tiếng Anh 9. Có thể nói rằng Sách Tiếng Anh 9 Trung học cơ sở rất phong phú và đa dạng về đề tài và các lĩnh vực khác nhau (xã hội, văn hoá, lịch sử, địa lý, thể thao, âm nhạc, ...), cung cấp một số lượng kiến thức không nhỏ nhằm hỗ trợ, phát triển và mở rộng thêm sự hiểu của Học sinh trong quá trình hình thành nền tảng kiến thức cơ bản. Tuy nhiên, sự phong phú và đa dạng của các chủ đề này lại là nguyên nhân gây ra không ít khó khăn cho một số thầy, cô giáo trong quá trình tổ chức các hoạt động dạy – học: Có nhiều thầy, cô giáo còn chưa thông thạo nhiều về một số chủ đề, gặp khó khăn trong việc tìm nguồn tư liệu cho chủ đề đó dẫn đến bị hạn chế trong quá trình dẫn dắt vào bài (warm-up), hoặc sử dụng những câu hỏi gợi mở (open-ended questions) để khai thác bài một cách có hiệu quả. Bên cạnh đó, trong quá trình tổ chức các hoạt động dạy-học giáo viên còn gặp phải một số khó khăn nhất định:
Đối tượng học sinh lớp 9 là độ tuổi đang biến đổi tâm - sinh lý, vì thế GV rất khó quản lý những học sinh nào làm việc và những học sinh nào không.
Sự không đồng đều về năng lực, trình độ giữa các học sinh trong một lớp hoặc giữa lớp này với lớp khác, cũng như việc HS không chịu luyện đọc bài đọc trước ở nhà.
II- THỰC TRẠNG VỀ VẤN ĐỀ NGHIÊN CỨU
Vận dụng cơ sở lý luận và thực tế của việc dạy-học Tiếng Anh ở trường Tiểu học và Trung học cơ sở Đông Khê để làm sáng tỏ các tiềm năng, thực trạng của học sinh. Từ đó đề xuất một số phương pháp nhằm cải thiện và phát triển hoc Ngoại ngữ có hiệu quả hơn.
