Về tình hình tiêu thụ ô tô trong nước tháng 8/2019 đạt 21.483 xe, giảm 19% so với tháng trước đó. Tuy nhiên, tính chung 8 tháng đầu năm nay vẫn có mức tăng trưởng cao so với cùng kỳ. Về xuất xứ xe, doanh số bán của xe lắp ráp trong nước đạt 12.594 xe, giảm 18% còn doanh số của xe nhập khẩu nguyên chiếc là 8.889 xe, giảm 22% so với tháng trước. Theo thống kê lượng tiêu thụ xe của VAMA, tháng 8/2019, Công ty cổ phần ôtô Trường Hải (Thaco) tiếp tục dẫn đầu thị phần ô tô với tổng doanh số bán 5.975 xe, chiếm 29,3% thị phần; tiếp theo là Toyota chiếm 24,9% thị phần với 5.066 xe, Ford chiếm 12,6% thị phần...
