“Trên cơ sở tầm nhìn “Tất cả phụ nữ sống an toàn thoát khỏi các hình thức bạo lực của nam giới”, Diễn đàn Ruy băng trắng bắt nguồn từ Nước Úc vào năm 2003 là một hoạt động của tổ chức UNIFEM (bây giờ là UN Women), cơ bản đã trở thành nền tảng năm 2007. Từ đó, chiến dịch đã gắn kết tích cực nam giới như một bước vận động chính sách để kết thúc bạo lực đối với phụ nữ và trẻ em gái. Diễn đàn Ruy băng trắng, Úc thường bắt đầu từ ngày Quốc tế xóa bỏ các hình thức bạo lực đối với Phụ nữ, hàng năm bắt đầu từ ngày 25/11. Ngày Ruy băng trắng khởi động cho 16 Ngày Chiến dịch Xóa bỏ Bạo lực đối với phụ nữ, và kết thúc vào ngày Nhân Quyền (10/12).”
Tại Hà Nội, ngày 25 tháng 11 năm 2015 Tầm quan trọng của việc gắn kết nam giới và cảnh sát trong việc giải quyết hiệu quả bạo lực đối với phụ nữ và trẻ em gái(VAWG) sự kiện được dánh dấu và do Trung tâm Phụ nữ và Phát triển – Hội Liên hiệp phụ nữ Việt Nam (CWD) Australian Aid và các tổ chức Liên hiệp Quốc vì Bình đẳng giới và trao quyền cho phụ nữ (UN Women) đồng tổ chức. Sự kiện “ Bữa ăn sáng Ruy băng Trắng – Cùng nam giới luận bàn về bạo lực gia đình đối với phụ nữ” với sự tham dự của khoảng 100 đại biểu bao gồm các đại sứ quán, lãnh đạo bộ ban ngành Việt Nam, các tổ chức tài trợ song phương và đa phương, các tổ chức Phi chính phủ, khối tổ chức Liên hiệp quốc và cơ quan truyền thông báo chí. Trong sự kiện lần đầu tiên được tổ chức này, Cảnh sát Úc và Việt Nam cùng tới dự và chia sẻ về việc làm thế nào để ứng phó với Bạo lực đối với phụ nữ và trẻ em gái. Sự kiện này nằm trong chuỗi sự kiện 16 Ngày của Chiến dịch Chấm dứt Bạo lực đối với Phụ nữ và trẻ em gái.
