Cấp trung học cơ sở

Cấp II gồm có 4 trình độ, từ lớp 6 đến lớp 9, bắt đầu từ 11 đến 15 tuổi.

Học sinh đến trường phải học các môn sau: Toán, Vật lý, Hoá học (lớp 8 và 9), Sinh học, Công nghệ, Ngữ văn, Lịch sử, Địa lý, Giáo dục Công dân, Ngoại ngữ (Anh, Pháp, Nga, Trung, Nhật),Thể dục, Âm nhạc, Mỹ thuật, Tin học (máy vi tính hoặc điện toán).

Ngoài ra học sinh có thêm một số tiết bắt buộc như: giáo dục ngoài giờ lên lớp, giáo dục hướng nghiệp (lớp 9), sử ca học đường...

Hết cấp trung học cơ sở, học sinh được xét tốt nghiệp dựa trên thành tích học tập tích lũy trong bốn năm. Trước đây hết cấp THCS học sinh phải trải qua kỳ thi tốt nghiệp, nhưng từ năm 2006đến nay đã chính thức được bãi bỏ.
