Để khắc phục vấn đề dịch thuật, về lý thuyết ta có một số thủ pháp như dịch vay mượn (lấy luôn từ ngữ trong ngôn ngữ gốc có phiên âm chú giải và với thời gian chúng sẽ trở thành từ ngữ của ngôn ngữ dịch như vi rút, cao bồi, ban công, ha lo win, xúc xích, vốt ca, giăm bông, mit ting...), dịch từ đối từ (dịch trực tiếp từ ngôn ngữ gốc sang ngôn ngữ dịch ở đơn vị từ, trật tự từ, giữ nghĩa thông thường, tuy nhiên hình thức này nhiều khi gây khó hiểu cho người đọc), dịch nguyên văn (Bản dịch gần với nguyên bản về hình thức: giữ nguyên cấu trúc, hình thức từ vựng ngôn ngữ đích), dịch chuyển đổi từ loại (hình thức từ ngữ được biến đổi xa rời văn bản gốc, gần gũi văn bản đích) và phỏng dịch (cách dịch tự do nhất, giữ lại chủ điểm, văn hóa ngôn ngữ gốc được chuyển đổi sang ngôn ngữ dịch – Hình thức này được áp dụng nhiều để giải quyết các vấn đề dịch thuật khó khăn)
Bên cạnh đó người dịch phải luôn luôn trau dồi cả tiếng mẹ đẻ lẫn tiếng nước ngoài. Người dịch giỏi phải thông thạo nhiều ngoại ngữ. Trước hết là tiếng mẻ đẻ và ngôn ngữ dịch. Người dịch phải luôn luôn trau dồi thêm những kiến thức toàn diện sâu rộng. Ở trường học đã được cung cấp rất nhiều nhưng chưa đủ, cần phải học thêm về văn hoá, văn minh của nước mình và của đất nước mà mình biết tiếng.
