Thông thường hòn đảo Koh Tachai mở cửa từ tháng 10 đến tháng 4 năm sau, các tháng còn lại đóng cửa do vào mùa mưa bão. Tuy nhiên hiện nay do tình trạng Vườn quốc gia Similan bị hủy hoại nặng nề do rác thải nên chính phủ Thái Lan đã tạm thời đóng cửa khu vực này, trong đó có cả hòn đảo Koh Tachai.
