Theo các chuyên gia, năm 2016, tại Việt Nam có tới 248 công ty và nhà máy chế biến thức ăn chăn nuôi được phép nhập khẩu ngô hạt.
Bên cạnh yếu tố ngô nhập khẩu có giá thành rẻ hơn trong nước, việc cho phép quá nhiều doanh nghiệp được tự do nhập khẩu ngô cũng là nguyên nhân khiến ngô nhập khẩu nhanh chóng tràn ngập thị trường. Chúng tôi xin đăng tải một số chính sách và kinh nghiệm nhằm bảo hộ cho sản xuất ngô trong nước của một số nước trong khu vực, những quốc gia có đặc thù về điều kiện sản xuất ngô tương tự như Việt Nam hiện nay.
