Chính sách dân số và KHHGD là chính sách cơ bản có ảnh hưởng lớn đến sự phát triển kinh tế xã hội của Vietnam. Sau khi ban hành, nó đã tạo được sự chuyển biến tích cực trong việc giảm tỉ lệ gia tăng dân số. Nhưng bên cạnh đó chính sách còn nhiều điểm yếu cần được xem xét và hoàn thiện hơn bằng các chiến lược bổ sung để đạt được các mục tiêu mong muốn của chính phủ trong tương lai.
