Việc kiểm soát chi phí thi công dự án được thực hiện theo các bước sau:
- Lập ngăn sách dự án (Budget): Phối hợp giữa ban ngân sách công ty, văn phòng PMO và Ban chỉ huy công trình (BCHCT).
- Lập dự toán vốn dự án: Dự toán vốn được các BCHCT lập nhằm đảm bảo ngân sách đề ra và làm hiệu quả hơn chi phí trong quá trình thi công.
- Kiểm soát chi phí: Trong quá trình thi công, chi phí được cập nhật thường xuyên trên hệ thống ERP và dữ liệu sau khi xử lý trên ERP được đổ vào hệ thống kiểm soát chi phí chung của công ty, được đưa lên hệ thống báo cáo, cảnh báo, portfolio của dự án cũng như của toàn công ty để kiểm soát cho từng giai đoạn và sau khi kết thúc dự án.
- Đánh giá, cảnh báo và xử lý trong quá trình kiểm soát chi phí dự án:
o Trường hợp tại thời điểm đánh giá báo cáo, chi phí nằm trong hạn mức cho phép.  Tiếp tục theo dõi.
o Trường hợp tại thời điểm đánh giá báo cáo, chi phí vượt hạn mức nhưng vẫn nằm mức kiểm soát được.  Phát lệnh cảnh báo.
o Trường hợp tại thời điểm đánh giá báo cáo, chi phí vượt hạn mức năm ngoài giới hạn kiểm soát.  Phát lệnh cảnh báo, yêu cầu điều tra, báo cáo lên cấp trên và đưa ra phương án xử lý gấp.
