Người Hoa là một dân tộc trong 54 cộng đồng tộc người ở Việt Nam, cư trú tại nhiều địa bàn khác nhau trong cả nước, như ở miền núi, nông thôn và biển. Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh và đồng bằng sông Cửu Long là những trung tâm thu hút người Hoa đến định cư khá đông. Theo số liệu của Tổng cục Thống kê năm 1999, cả nước có 862.371 người Hoa, trong đó tại thành phố Hồ Chí Minh đã có đến 428.768 , chiếm tỉ lệ 49,71% người Hoa cả nước. Hiện nay, ở Việt Nam, người Hoa sống tập trung tại một số tỉnh như Hà Giang, Tuyên Quang, Lạng Sơn, Bắc Ninh, Hưng Yên, thành phố Hà Nội, Quảng Nam, Bình Thuận, Đồng Nai….
