Cung cấp đánh giá tổng quan thực trạng thích ứng biến đổi hiện nay và việc bảo tồn các di sản văn hóa của cộng đồng tộc người Khmer ở các tỉnh ven biển. Khảo sát đánh giá về nhận thức giữ gìn và phát triển các giá trị văn hóa trong cộng đồng người Khmer Nam Bộ.
Đưa ra những so sánh khoa học về nét tương đồng và dị biệt trong đời sống kinh tế, văn hóa, xã hội người Khmer ở các tỉnh ven biển Đồng bằng Sông Cửu Long, từ đó, tìm ra các điểm mạnh và hạn chế của các địa phương.
Phát hiện và hệ thống hóa tri thức bản địa liên quan đến vấn đề thích nghi, ứng phó với biến đổi khí hậu hiện đang được ứng dụng. Thảo luận tính ưu việt và thách thức của mô hình sinh kế gắn với bảo tồn di sản văn hóa dựa trên nền tảng kiến thức bản địa của tộc người thiểu số ở Đồng bằng Sông Cửu Long. Từ đó, chỉ ra mối liên hệ chặt chẽ giữa bảo tồn và phát triển bền vững trong tương lai.
Kết quả mong đợi sẽ đóng góp và nâng cao khả năng thích nghi với biến đổi khí hậu và những tác động của nó đến di sản văn hóa trong cộng đồng, cụ thể là:
Dựa vào kết quả số liệu thu thập được đưa ra đề xuất phát triển, phổ biến những mô hình sinh kế, mô hình bảo tồn di sản văn hóa hiệu quả trong tộc người Khmer ven biển nói riêng và cộng đồng các dân tộc ở Đồng bằng sông Cửu Long nói chung.
Nâng cao nhận thức của cộng đồng người Khmer trong việc gìn giữ, tôn tạo khai thác có hiệu quả cảnh quan thiên nhiên và giá trị văn hóa vật thể, phi vật thể.
