Với đặc trưng về tính đa dạng sinh học cũng như tiềm năng về phát triển của KBT sân chim Vàm Hồ và Khu bảo tồn thiên nhiên Đất ngập nước Thạnh Phú, tỉnh Bến Tre đã lựa chọn 02 khu vực này trở thành khu vực thí điểm để triển khai dự án
