Suốt bốn năm đại học tôi đều làm lớp trưởng nên những ngày lễ tết hay lớp có công việc gì là ban cán sự lớp chúng tôi lại đại diện đến thăm và chúc tết thầy cô. Những lần đi như vậy đã giúp chúng tôi hiểu hơn được chữ “Thầy” mà xã hội tôn vinh. Những người thầy khi ấy đã ươm mầm cho những thế hệ sinh viên chúng tôi những kiến thức sơ đẳng nhất khi theo nghề sư phạm. Những cái tâm trong sáng không hề vụ lợi của thầy cô ngày ấy mãi mãi là tấm gương sáng cho chúng tôi học tập để bây giờ khi đứng trên bục giảng vẫn luôn nghĩ về những người thầy đã từng dạy mình khi xưa. Thầy cô là người đã chở cả đạo và đời, bởi những lời răn dạy xưa vẫn văng vẳng như nhắc nhở chúng tôi luôn biết sống thanh cao để giữ gìn phẩm chất cao đẹp của người thầy. Còn nhớ, Ngày nhà giáo Việt Nam, lũ sinh viên năm nhất chúng tôi tổ chức họp lớp rồi bàn luận đóng góp để đi tết thầy. Mọi phương án đã chuẩn bị sẵn sàng nhưng cuối cùng bị vỡ kế hoạch. Các thầy cô không nhận quà mà chỉ nhận hoa cùng những lời chúc của ban cán sự lớp. Lời thầy cô luôn thâm thúy đến tận bây giờ: “Các em phần lớn đều là những sinh viên từ các vùng quê nghèo. Những đồng tiền ít ỏi mà cha mẹ chắt chiu gửi cho các em học tập nên để dành mua thêm tài liệu, sách vở... Thầy cô dù chưa giàu có gì nhưng đã có trường, có khoa lo cho cả rồi...”. Thời còn học cấp III, chúng tôi đã quen với những chiếc phong bì (theo phong trào) nhưng thực lòng mỗi khi Ngày nhà giáo tới, chúng tôi cảm thấy có cái gì đó không vui. Vui sao được khi những học sinh tặng thầy cô bó hoa tươi được nhét thêm một cái phong bì lạnh lùng cho người đang giảng dạy mình, đang nói về nhân cách và đạo đức? Ra trường, đã nhiều năm đứng trên bục giảng, mỗi khi ngày 20-11 đến gần thì những cảm xúc của chúng tôi cũng xốn xang, rộn ràng. Cái niềm vui giản dị của người thầy là đến ngày này được xã hội nhắc đến, được nghe các em học sinh, cựu học sinh gọi điện, gửi vài lời nhắn đến cho mình.
