before initiating economic reform policy, Vietnam mainly have international relations with the former Soviet Union and the countries of the socialist camp. Today economic policy by open, international relations of Vietnam have become more diverse.
Relations with China Vietnam were normalized in 1991. In July 1995 Vietnam has reached an historic turning point in diplomatic relations: Diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the fine was completely normalized. Also in this year, Vietnam became an official member of ASEAN and has signed a cooperation agreement with the European Union. Currently, Vietnam has diplomatic relations with 160 countries and trade relations with 120 countries and territories.

Vietnam has become a member of the ASEAN Free Trade Area since January 1, 1996 and the official members of the Economic Cooperation Forum Asia Pacific since 1998, so has ended push bilateral relations and multilateralism. after 11 years of preparation and negotiation, from January 2007 Vietnam officially became the 150th member of the world trade.
