Đưa thang đồng hồ về các thang đo điện trở, nếu điện trở nhỏ thì đưa thang về x1 ohm hoặc x10 ohm, nếu điện trở lớn thì đưa thang về x1Kohm hoặc 10Kohm. Sau đó chập hai que đo và chỉnh triết áo để kim đồng hồ báo vị trí 0 ohm.
