Năm 2012 số doanh nghiệp đã là 4.500 với 2,5 triệu lao động, doanh thu tăng 20 lần, xuất khẩu tăng 172 lần. Dệt may Việt Nam đứng thứ 5 thế giới về xuất khẩu và trở thành ngành kinh tế mũi nhọn của quốc gia. Ngay trong khủng hoảng, dệt may vẫn đạt mức tăng trưởng bình quân của hai con số.
