Ở nước Việt Nam, tuổi lao động là 15 tuổi. Với số lượng dân số đứng thứ 14, nước chúng ta có một nguồn lao động khá lớn. Đến năm 2015, lực lượng lao động của cả nước đạt 54.32 triệu người, lao động nam chiếm 51.77% và lao động nữ chiếm 48.23%. Ở thành thị là 16.87 triệu người lao động, còn ở nông thôn là 37.84 triệu người lao động. Song song đó là tỷ lệ thất nghiệp làm của lao động nước ta vào năm 2015 lại tăng so với các năm gần đây. Tỷ lệ thất nghiệp của cả nước là 2.31% vào năm 2015, còn năm 2013(2.18%), 2014(2.10%). Tỷ lệ thiếu việc làm vào năm 2015 lại là 1.82% giảm so với các năm trước, 2013 là 2.75%, 2014 là 2.4%. Nguyên nhân dẫn đến thất nghiệp tăng là do người lao động chưa thể đáp ứng được những nhu cầu của các doanh nghiệp đưa ra, và các doanh nghiệp giảm tuyển dụng. Năng lực lao động thấp cũng là nguyên nhân dẫn đến thất nghiệp.
