Tết truyền thống của người Hàn Quốc thường kéo dài trong 3 ngày: ngày mùng 30 Tết, ngày mùng 1 và ngày mùng 2 Tết.Mọi người mặc những bộ hanbok (trang phục truyền thống) đẹp mắt, hành lễ trước tổ tiên hoặc chơi trò chơi dân gian, ăn những món ăn truyền thống ngon lành, ngồi nghe kể truyện và chuyện trò thâu đêm.Trước một tuần tất cả các gia đình đều hối hả mua sắm.Buổi tối trước Giao thừa, người Hàn Quốc thường tắm bằng nước nóng để tẩy trần; mặc trang phục truyền thống hanbok hoặc những bộ quần áo đẹp nhất để cử hành nghi lễ thờ cúng tổ tiên.
