Ở Việt Nam hiện tồn tại hai mô hình

Ở Việt Nam hiện tồn tại hai mô hình GD trẻ khuyết tật là mô hình GD chuyên biệt và mô hình GD hòa nhập.

Theo mô hình GD chuyên biệt, hiện có hơn 100 cơ sở với gần 1.000 học sinh. Ở đó, có hơn 50% giáo viên được đào tạo hoặc bồi dưỡng về chuyên ngành GD trẻ khuyết tật.
